Turbine neighbors ask FIEC again: explain why Vinalhaven electric rates are so high

You may have just received your August utility bill and noticed that you are being charged at a rate of 0.12178 or about $.12 per kilowatt-hour. Why is FIEC charging so much, when the cost to produce wind energy or to buy from the grid is the same: about .06/KWh?

Fox Islands Wind Neighbors has been trying to obtain an answer to this question and raised this question before the FIEC board, but so far we have not heard an adequate explanation for the difference. All ratepayers should ask FIEC the same question.
